on the front page someone was inquiring why the grand cherokee trackhawk wont have a hellcat badge. i explained that its because its not a hellcat its a trackhawk so no hellcat badge is needed. and people keep trying to justify that because its the same driveline it should have the badge. are people really just that thick? like they dont understand that the Hellcat is little more than a trim level for chargers and challengers and not a brand on its own. like i cant be the only one who understands this reasoning behind this. much like how the ram rebel trx doesnt have a hellcat badge even though its the same driveline (abit a detuned one)

I can see both sides of the argument. Yes, it is a trim package but that package basically amounts to a unique drivetrain upgrade. The Hellcat has become a bit of its own brand.
This isn’t really any different than a AMG C63 or AMG G63. The Hellcat logo is representative of the motor.
I would argue that it doesn’t make sense because one is a Jeep and one is a Dodge and the third is a Ram.

Its almost like Jeep wants continuity with their Trailhawk models.

Until the Trackhawk existed, we’ve been directly associating that monster of an engine with the “Hellcat” trim level (which is totally understandable). Now we’re going to have to get used to that engine being used in other applications.
But outside of trim levels, the engine itself must have an official name, just like Ford’s Coyote . Is it “Hellcat Hemi”?

i guess the designation for the motor is officially 6.2 Hellcat but id still argue that the hellcat name specifically refers to dodges. for the ram and now jeep counterpart they had to come up with something else due to not being dodges

My only thoughts about this are...are we going to see a Trailcat Wrangler in 2018? :D What about a RAMcat? I mean, since Sergio is doubling down on giving a middle finger to efficiency, might as well go all out. :)

I’ve seen te engine itself referred to as a hellcat in the media often. That’s probably where it’s coming from.

So the official terminology, if I understand this correctly, is that the FCA/Mopar Hellcat engine is used in Dodge Hellcat and Jeep Trackhawk trim levels. Is that how it’s supposed to work?
I have to admit, I’m not a big fan of overlapping terminology.

BUT IT HAS THE HELLCAT MOTOR AND IT’S COOL TO SAY HELLCAT SO IT NEEDS THE HELLCAT BADGE BECAUSE ALL CARS WITH THE HELLCAT MOTOR MUST BE HELLCATS!

Ask them if the Grand Cherokee has a Dodge badge on the hood.

The engine is the Hellcat. That’s like saying the Grand Cherokees shouldn’t have a V8 or EcoDiesel badge because it’s an Overland.

Not cars... but you should go over to CrackBerry to see how many people are debating and outraging how BlackBerry’s new phones (DTEK50/60/KEYone) don’t have the word “BlackBerry” in the front.
We live in a world full of nutjobs.

the ramcat is the Rebel TRX

it already has a supercharged badge. why have several different badges for the engine

The engine’s official name is the Hellcat. FCA uses (at least recently) military aircraft as internal designations for their engines, and the Hellcat apparently sounded cool enough to keep it as the public name as well. The 5.7's internal designation is Eagle, the 6.4 is Apache, I think the 6.1 is Comanche, etc. And it’s not just V8s, look at the 2.4 Tigershark/Hurricane.

Oh my god, how did I not know about this?!?!?! *drools*

I’m not disappointed that it didn’t get a “hellcat” badge. I’m disappointed that it didn’t get any cool badge.

I want a Hellhawk badge on it, something to make people know it’s more than an SRT

if the badge looks anything like the trailhawk badge id say its pretty cool maybe a bit bigger with a more hawk-like appearance

Don’t care. Everyone is still going to call it the Hellcat Cherokee. :P
